Nightmare Zone Update – Nightmare Mode Expansion

Nightmare Zone has received a large expansion with the introduction of Nightmare Mode, alongside balance changes, new unlocks, new items, and quality-of-life fixes.

Nightmare Mode is an unlockable game mode within Nightmare Zone, not a replacement. It is designed as a harder, more structured version of NMZ with progression, waves, and significantly stronger encounters.

Nightmare Mode (New Unlockable Game Mode)

  • Nightmare Mode is unlocked through Nightmare Zone
  • Features harder monsters, higher requirements, and structured progression
  • Will require skill, good gear, and encounter knowledge to succeed

Wave-Based Structure

Nightmare Mode consists of 10 waves, with difficulty increasing each wave (roughly ~10% per wave).

  • Monsters spawn slower than standard NMZ
  • Up to 5 enemies spawn, then combat pauses
  • You must choose to continue before the next set spawns
  • You may leave after any wave
  • Completing Wave 10 guarantees a reward

Wave Layout:
Find out after a week or so.

Other drops are rolled throughout the run.

New Bosses & Encounters

  • Added Giant Snake to the Nightmare Zone lineup
  • Added Nightmare variants of bosses
  • New NPCs created specifically for Nightmare Mode
  • Added a new map area for Nightmare Mode

New Items & Rewards

  • 17 new items obtainable from Nightmare Mode
  • One item set for each combat style
  • Plus a new cape
  • New chargeable staff (charged using Soul runes and Death runes)

Shop Changes

  • Imbue Scrolls added to the shop
  • Dream Shards (Overloads) added to the shop
  • Lamps added

Future updates will expand unlocks and pricing further.

Restrictions & Balance Changes

  • Cannons no longer work in Nightmare Zone
  • Ring of Life and teleport effects no longer function
  • Ice weapons now correctly require their intended requirements

World Event

  • New world event: Double Drops
  • Functions like a Boss Bonanza
  • Bosses drop double loot during the event

Fixes & Quality of Life

  • Fixed Eternal Flame pet timer (if map_clock is less than the timer by more than the timer itself, it is now ignored correctly)
  • Added alchemy warnings for items valued over 65,000 coins
  • Added alchemy warnings for untradeable items
