Better HD, Lighting & Bots!

Brighter fires, better water, smarter bots and a brand new Desktop Client 1.0.1. Here is everything that changed.
Graphics (WebGPU renderer)
  • Better lighting - the sun, shadows and sky now work together. Warmer light when the sun is low, sky light filling the shade, and light bouncing back up off the ground.
  • Distance haze - far away scenery softens and fades toward the horizon, which gives the world real depth.
  • Moonlight - proper moonlight after dark, with moon shadows that hand over smoothly from the sun.
  • Real fire and torch light - fires, torches and lamps now light up the ground, walls and players around them, and the light no longer leaks through walls. Turn on Emissive light in the graphics settings to see it.
  • Glow halos - a soft glow around fires, torches and lamps.
  • Better water - sun and moon glitter on the surface, stronger reflections at low angles, and glints from nearby fires.
  • Softer shadows - much smoother shadow edges that still stay crisp right next to the object casting them.
Graphics fixes
  • Ambient occlusion no longer makes characters look see-through.
  • Fires and torches keep their light and particle effects instead of losing them.
  • Models and terrain no longer vanish at extreme camera angles and zoom levels.
  • Wider camera pitch range.
  • Tile markers and NPC outlines now work on the WebGPU renderer.
Desktop Client 1.0.1
  • Resizable mode - turn it on under the Display tab, in Layout. The game fills the whole window and follows it as you resize, and your choice is remembered next launch.
  • Works with every renderer backend, so you can switch between WebGPU, WebGL2 and Legacy without leaving Resizable mode.
  • Reset UI Layout puts the panels back where they started.
  • The window keeps a minimum playable size, and no longer grows a little on every restart.
  • The desktop client keeps its game files and animations up to date automatically.
  • New installer and portable zip, both version 1.0.1.
Bots
  • Bots are a lot smarter than before.
  • They can now log off and log back in intermittently, just like real players.
  • They visit more places and travel across the map far more reliably.
  • They can add to the coin pile and earn GP reliably again.
Bug fixes
A batch of general bug fixes and cleanup across the game and server.
