Extreme Firsts Gets a Home, Plus a Big Round of Fixes

It has been a busy few days, so grab a cuppa. The headline news is that Extreme Firsts now has its own page on the website, and there are a few new things to chase. We also squashed a long list of bugs along the way.

The Extreme Firsts Statistics Page

You can now see how the race is going without logging in. Head to /extreme-firsts for a live view of the competition: how many firsts are still up for grabs, who has claimed what, and when it happened. There is a ranking of the most decorated Extreme Ironmen, a recent firsts feed, and breakdowns by XP rate and category. You can also look up any player to see their full history. Anyone who has fallen along the way stays on the board and is marked as deceased, so their glory doesn't vanish with them. It reads straight from the same records the game uses, so new firsts will show up on their own.

New Firsts to Chase

  • Clue caskets: be the first to 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 caskets. Easy, medium and hard all count towards the total.
  • Total level: first to 1,000, 1,250, 1,500, 1,600, 1,800 and 1,900, plus a first for maxing out. Farming doesn't count towards these, and only your real levels do, so potions and boosts won't help.
  • There's a new Clues tab in the Extreme Firsts interface, and the total level milestones live on the Special tab.

These start counting from now. If you were already at 750 clues or 1,850 total, you can't skip ahead, but you can still win everything you haven't reached yet.

Fixes, Fixes and More Fixes

  • Announcements look right: Extreme Firsts announcements used to show a stray colour code in chat. They now appear properly in gold. Skilling pet announcements also show your account icon like every other drop, and so do Collection Log announcements, with your XP rate, icon and name.
  • Terror Tower: having an interface or a level-up pop-up open when a boss died could stop the reward ladder appearing. That's sorted, and level-up pop-ups are now tucked away while you're inside a run (you still get the level, don't worry). Venenatis has also been retired from the Tower roster. She's still out in the world, just not delving with you. We also fixed the Gnome Champion's special attack, which could fire at the wrong arena inside the Tower and keep players stuck online for ages.
  • Witch's Potion: the cauldron was refusing to let people drink even when the quest told them to, and the rats near Hetty's house weren't dropping their tails. Both work now, and nobody has to restart the quest.
  • Armour animations: we replaced the worn models for platebodies and full helms from Bronze to Rune, plus the trimmed, gold-trimmed, Saradomin, Zamorak and Guthix sets, with the proper originals so arms and heads move the way they should. Halloween masks, the Lumberjack hat and the Reaper hood got the same treatment.
  • Camera: you can now tilt much further up towards the horizon and sky. Looking steeply down no longer makes nearby walls and objects vanish.

Thanks as always for the bug reports and screenshots. They really do help. Refresh your client to pick up the camera and animation changes, and see you out there!
